A person has died after their car crashed off the road before rolling into a creek in the Bay of Plenty.

A police spokesperson said they were called to the scene of the accident in Pukehina Parade, Pukehina, at 3.14am this morning.

“A vehicle has left the road and rolled into a creek,” the spokesperson said.

“Sadly, the driver has died at the scene.”

The spokesperson said there were no passengers.

The police investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the deceased,” the spokesperson added.
