A pedestrian is in critical condition after an accident with a truck in Parnell, Auckland.

The incident occurred on The Strand and a section of the road has been closed.

Hato Hone St John told the Herald they were notified at at 2.05pm.

It sent one rapid response vehicle and two ambulances.

One person has been transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and will be attending the scene.

A section of The Strand is being closed between the intersections with St Georges Bay Road and Tamaki Drive.

Police warn this will cause disruption in the busy transport corridor this afternoon.
