A cyclist has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after an accident with a truck in the central Auckland suburb of Freemans Bay.
A witness told the Herald it looked like emergency services were tending to someone underneath a concrete mixing truck while police controlled traffic on either side.
“Paramedics were holding a stretcher and one could be seen going under the concrete truck.”
Another witness said there were about eight police cars on Franklin Rd blocking it off in one direction.
Police told the Herald they were called after a collision between a cyclist and a truck around 5.30pm.
“The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and inquiries are ongoing,” they said.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they sent one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle to the scene around 5.30pm.
“At this stage, we will be transporting a patient in serious condition to Auckland City Hospital.”
Emergency services were called to the incident in Freemans Bay around 5.30pm.
