The Taranaki Regional Council is confident no gas leaks have been covered up in the region despite recent allegations.

Last month international gas company Origin Energy was accused of covering up gas leaks in Queensland and Taranaki.

Former Origin employee Sally McDow made the claims and has filed documents in the Australian courts.

Origin Energy said it will fight the allegations.

The Taranaki Regional Council will no longer investigate the claims, after finding no evidence of cover ups in its own investigation.
