An eight-storey building in the middle of Mission Bay is going to stick out like a sore thumb, according to locals.
The Auckland beach suburb is in for a 200 million dollar makeover, up to 100 apartments and townhouses and even a cinema.
"It looks like they are just plonking an eight story building into the middle of a character filled area, the building would be seriously out of place."
Mission Bay Residents Association chair Don Stock says the suburb needs a revival, but he is not happy with the current plans.
"You can update things and create a much better environment, but just because its falling behind doesn't mean you have to put an eight storey building in there."
