Strange rays seen on the horizon off Gisborne have baffled even the experts.
WeatherWatch says it's stumped at an image showing weird rays appearing to converge on the horizon.
Some say it looks like the rays are coming from a source over the horizon...maybe a UFO.
Meanwhile a forecaster at CNN says the effect is caused by moving cloud and shadows.
