Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found at a property in South Auckland overnight with critical injuries “consistent with stab wounds”, police say.
Despite receiving medical attention, the victim died at the scene, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward said.
Emergency services were called to Manurewa just after midnight to “a report that a person had been injured at a property on Marr Rd”, Hayward said.
“Police and ambulance attended and located a man with critical injuries consistent with stab wounds who, despite medical attention, died at the scene.”

Police were now trying to find out the circumstances of what happened.
“Residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence in the area today.”

A blue police tent could this morning be seen outside a Marr Rd home, which has been cordoned off by police.
Police wanted to hear from anyone who saw what happened or had information that could help investigators, he said.
