A night drive along Papamoa Beach has left one man dead.
Emergency services in the Western Bay of Plenty were called to the incident at the southern end of the beach just before 8pm.
It is understood the deceased man was one of five occupants in a Toyota Surf that was being driven along the beach and rolled.
NZME. reports the accident happened about 500 metres north of the beach access at Harrison's Cut.
Fire Service staff were required to extricate the dead person from the wreckage.
The other occupants had minor injuries, however they were not transported to hospital.
