Figures from Statistics New Zealand are showing a large increase of how much data Kiwis are using.
Broadband connections consumed 276 million terabytes of data in June this year, a 93 per cent increase compared to June 2016.
That's enough data to watch 92 million hours of high definition movies, or 10 thousand years of screen time.
Residential connections used around 170 gigabytes each in June this year, up from the 88 gigabytes consumed in June 2016.
And InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter says it won't stop yet.
"I'd expect to see on-going big increases in the data that people are using. (When) 4K TV starts to take off that'll lead to another big surge in data consumption. The trend is up and it's going to keep getting steeper for a while."
Carter said it's a sign of the times.
"The growing trend of people moving away from watching TV when it's broadcast on the air to using catch-up and on demand services.
"There are more and more options out there, where people can pay a bit of money and get the contact that they're after."
