A multi-million dollar upgrade is underway at Kerikeri airport.

Work to extend the apron and taxiway is expected to be completed early next year, which will allow 50-seat aircraft in and out.

Far North Holdings CEO Andy Nock says the expansion will improve accessibility to the Far North with an increase of 12,000 seats per annum.

"Those extra seats will mean cheaper prices, greater opportunity and flexibility for everybody,."

Andy Nock says the expansion will address the current demand for flights which tend to fill up very quickly.
