Jonah Lomu's role in New Zealand provincial rugby will be honoured when Counties-Manukau and Wellington play next week in the Mitre 10 Cup.
It's been announced the teams will play for the Jonah Lomu Memorial Trophy in their match in Pukekohe.
Counties will also wear a special edition 1990s jersey in the match to pay tribute to Lomu.
Lomu turned out 28 times for Counties between 1994 and 1999 before shifting south to Wellington from 2000 to 2003.
The two teams will play off for the trophy every time they meet in the future.
So far this season, Counties are topping the Mitre 10 Cup standings with two wins from three games.
Last night they put 48 points on the board to blow out the Hawke's Bay Magpies, despite the short turnaround since their last match.
Wellington are in the Championship division, and have one win from two matches.
