One of the last roads cordoned off during last month's Port Hills fires has just reopened.

Cars will be able to access Dyers Pass Road to Governors Bay daily, from 6am through until 7pm.

The roads will then be cordoned off overnight.

Geotechnical assessments put the risk of a rockfall as low, but engineers will be watching the situation.

A 50 kilometres an hour speed restriction is in place on Dyers Pass Road from Victoria Park to Sign of the Takahe.

No carparking will be allowed anywhere on Dyers Pass Road, including at the Sign of the Kiwi carpark.

Rubberneckers are being told to stay away, to allow residents and fire crews to make their way through the area.

Access is still restricted to Summit Road at Dyers Pass Road, while the adventure park is still closed.
