A Christchurch rebuild icon will close its doors this weekend.
The Re:START container mall will be rebranded as the Riverside Farmers Market next week.
Re:START the Heart Trust took just 61 days to build the mall in the city's CBD after the Christchurch quakes.
Trust chair John Suckling said the container mall was never going to be economic because it didn't contain a large commercial building.
"The problem is that for a landowner that would never get enough income from having a container mall on prime land in the very centre of downtown Christchurch."
While the mall was never intended to be permanent, John Suckling said the trust appreciates all the support it got.
"When people go round it they say it's sad that it's not going to stay, but we take from that it's great that people feel so strongly about Re:START."
