A group of more than 100 Christchurch homeowners have outlined their case against the The Earthquake Commission.
Lawyers delivered a letter today seeking three sets of declaratory judgments from the High Court around EQC's interpretation of the EQC Act.
The group believes the Commission's fallen short of its obligations on earthquake repairs.
The declarations cover EQC's liability when it decides whether to settle by payment, replacement or reinstatement.
Anthony Harper partner Peter Woods says EQC's interpretation has left many outstanding claims in dispute and could put many settled claims in doubt.
He says the judgments will have far-reaching implications across the country.
