A hearing over a controversial liquor store is entering its second day in Christchurch.
The proposed bottle store in Bishopdale has infuriated residents and they've collected 1100 signatures opposing the liquor license application.
Thirty-six people have submitted against it.
Petition organiser Bruce Tulloch said they've sent a strong message so far.
"The stack of evidence of submissions that the committee have got is quite magnificent. It looks about eight centimetres or so thick."
Mr Tulloch said his neighbourhood is tranquil with few noise problems.
He said residents are scared the bottle store will encourage impulse alcohol purchases.
"People are concerned that the amenity and good order of the area will be affected by easier access to alcohol."
