A police car was one of two vehicles involved in an early morning crash that closed a road in downtown Whangārei.
At around 5.30am the police car was near the intersection of Hatea Dr and Drummond St in Regent when it collided with a member of the public’s vehicle, a police spokesperson said.
Passersby reported seeing a car over a bank in the area.
One person was assessed by paramedics at the scene.
Hatea Dr has reopened after it was closed for roughly two hours. Motorists were directed away from the route that links the Town Basin and Kensington.
