A man has been found fighting for his life on a rural Waikato road this morning.
Police are trying to figure out how the man turned up injured on Hampton Downs Rd in Whangamarino, asking anyone with information to contact them.
Cordons have been set up between the intersection of Hampton Downs Rd and the landfill access road and Chris Amon Drive.
The man was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said: “If you have any information that could help our inquiries, please update us online now or call 105.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said ambulances responded to an incident on Hampton Downs Rd at about 5am.
The spokesperson said five vehicles attended the incident. One patient was treated at the scene and transported to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition.
“The incident was attended by one first response unit, one ambulance, two rapid response units and one road manager.”
A reporter at the scene said Hampton Downs Rd was closed from where it intersected with Landfill Access Rd.
There were two police vehicles parked on Hampton Downs Rd. Traffic control contractors were parked at the intersection marking the road closure.
