Test results from Pahiatua have come back positive for E.coli, for the third day in a row.
The Tararua District Council issued a boil water notice yesterday, and installed a chlorination unit after lunch yesterday.
Chlorination is continuing through the town's water supply, as well as regular testing on the bore where the positive reading for E.coli has been found.
The Council says the boil water notice will remain in place until they receive three consecutive days of clear test results.
Residents are advised to boil water for drinking, making ice, food preparation, brushing teeth, and preparing infant formula.
Meanwhile in Havelock North, the boil water notice has been lifted this afternoon.
