The All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said the flag debate is an interesting conversation.

The man who designed the silver fern which features on the All Blacks jersey is offering to redesign the ferns which feature on three of the four short listed flag submissions.

David Clark's offer follows a warning from New Zealand Rugby against the use of its trademarked silver fern logo.

Coach Steve Hansen said the silver fern is symbolic to New Zealand whether it's related to sport or something else.

"I'm not going to turn around and say I don't like it - it's on our jersey, so obviously I like it but whether its on our flag or not won't be up to me, I'll only get one vote."
