The Families Commissioner has just resigned to take up a job in the Beehive.

Belinda Milnes' resignation is effective immediately.

She's held the role since February 2013.

Ms Milnes will be a senior ministerial adviser to minister Paula Bennett.

Belinda Milnes is the sister of Communications Minister Amy Adams.

Her husband also made headlines over the weekend, after it was revealed his telco company now employs former Beehive staffer Jason Ede, who was at the centre of the Dirty Politics scandal.
