A spokesperson for EQC claimants wants Gerry Brownlee held to account over his handling of the past seven-years.
Earthquake Commission Interim Chairwoman, Dame Annette King joined EQC Minister Megan Woods in meeting with a group of about 35 claimants in person yesterday.
EQC Fix spokesperson Mel Bourke says getting a chance to be heard was positive, but also devastating seeing confident and capable people brought to their knees.
She says former EQC commissioner Gerry Brownlee needs to answer for his lack of preparedness to listen to the people of Canterbury post quakes.
"If he was in that room today and he heard those stories, I think he'd be a long way from being able to say what he told me [about] the spectacularly wonderful job that EQC has done."
She says the re-shaped Commission needs to prove it's trustworthy.
Bourke says they've had a lot of PR spin pushed on them over the years. Now the commission needs to take their time in making new appointments.
"The first thing they have to do is get the trust right with the community and who they decide [is] the face of doing that is going to be critical for building a trust in that sense, and they've got a long way to go with that."
