UPDATED 8.59pm:Â The Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union says New Zealand Post needs to be clear about what the future holds.
Further job cuts at the state owned company are being considered, and its deed of understanding with the government is being looked at.
EPMU's Joe Gallagher says New Zealand Post needs to be transparent, so those working know what the end-game is.
"So that people have got some certainty with their futures because this just can't go on year after year thinking, 'am I next?'
"And it's no good for anyone. Whether it's no good for the business, no good for the employees, no good for the general public."
Gallagher says he doesn't know what further flexibility New Zealand post could need, considering changes that have already been implemented.
"They have all the mechanisms in place to be able to a) maintain the service as well as look to remodel the business, so I was a little bit surprised today to see that they're seeking new discussions with the government."
