An unforgettable morning for Sumner School and the Student Volunteer Army in Christchurch.
Dr Jane Goodall’s visiting the groups that take part in her International Roots and Shoots program for environmental protection.
The world's leading chimpanzee expert's spoken to the school assembly for half an hour about her life’s work.
Dr Goodall was welcomed with gasps, followed by a haka and waiata at the packed Sumner School hall.
She told the students it was one of the best school welcomes she’s ever had.
Dr Goodall responded to the haka with her own greeting - a chimp call.
