The Anglican Church is gearing up for a decision on the future of ChristChurch Cathedral.
The decision to either reinstate the current cathedral or build a new one, will be made by the 225-member Synod over the next three days.
As well as the Cathedral's future, the assembly will discuss topics such as euthanasia and the church's financial accounts.
Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel and Christchurch Regeneration Minister Nicky Wagner will address the synod tomorrow, about the council and government positions on the cathedral.
The synod is expected to announce a decision on Saturday afternoon to either reinstate the Cathedral or build a new one.
