The spokesperson for the CTV victim's families has called for a more thorough approach to building policies and procedures from the Christchurch City Council.
Maan Alkaisi's wife was killed in the building collapse.
The engineering professor said the Royal Commission of Inquiry's recommendations aren't being followed by the Council and that leaves more lives at risk.
He said that although the Council has made significant progress with the rebuild, he's concerned new staff aren't being briefed on the mistakes of the past.
"From February 2011, we know what the consequences are if we let this go without really taking some action. They just have to follow the recommendations."
He said they need to be more thorough, because it only took one building to kill over a hundred people.
"If there is something wrong, fix it. I don't want even one single building to be substandard, because we only had one CTV building, and the cost of that was 115 lives."
