Police are appealing for the whereabouts of a 41-year-old Christchurch man, who's been missing for over a week.

Joseph Woods was last seen in the Hoon Hay area last Wednesday.

He was wearing a red fleece top, navy track pants, brown shoes, and carrying a blue backpack at the time.

The man is described as 175-centimetres tall and of medium build.

He hasn't been in contact with friends or family since his disappearance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Christchurch police.
