The director of a liquidated Christchurch building firm says slow payments are part of the construction game.
Welstruct is in liquidation, with its sister company Welhaus avoiding liquidation but winding down operations.
Director Dan Tremawan says they are owed hundreds-of thousands of dollars by the main party they're sub-contracted to.
He says that has forced them into liquidation.
"If you are in between projects or don't get paid towards the end of one, it's really hard to get through to the next big project."
Tremawan says late payments and skinny margins are part and parcel of the construction scene, but says industry people in the know orchestrated late payments against his businesses.
