China's refusal to take waste from NZ for recycling causing no problems

The impact of China refusing to take waste for recycling from New Zealand and Australia hasn't been felt here, Auckland Council says.

The Chinese decision has led the Queensland city of Ipswich to completely do away with curbside recycling with the rubbish all going to landfill.

There are fears other councils could follow suit.

The waste planning manager for Auckland Council Parul Sood says they don't have an issue at the moment, but they do have a group that's looking at this.
