Christchurch City Council isn't saying how many potential jobs could be cut through the consolidation of its workforce.
A new organisation is set to combine the work of the Canterbury Development Corporation, Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism and some activities carried out by the city council's events unit.
The council said 39 people are employed by the development corporation, alongside 42 by the tourism outfit.
Seven staff from the council's events unit are also expected to be involved in the new organisation.
The council said that all of the staff will be updated as the development plan for the new entity is developed.
It said more information on its proposed structure will be available early next year.
