It's hoped parents have considered toys this Christmas that aren't gender specific.
Australian organisation Play Unlimited has been running a campaign called No Gender December.
Spokeswoman Thea Hughes says marketing at this time of year separates toys into different toys for boys and different toys for girls.
"By prescribing toys in this way, kids feel like they can't follow their true preference. Their options are being narrowed and limited."
Thea Hughes says kids miss out on certain skills when they don't play with a variety of toys.
