Stronger calls for GST to be removed from tampons after our neighbours across the ditch announced plans to.

Australia doesn't have GST on what it deems "essential" items.

Their treasurer Scott Morrison admits it was a mistake for GST to ever be applied to women's sanitary products, and calls it fundamentally unfair.

KidsCan CEO and founder, Julie Chapman, says although we don't have the same GST exemptions, it's time for the Government to step up and make a radical move.

It gives out around 20-thousand packs of feminine hygiene products.

"The need just continues to grow, so I think anything that we could do as a country to lower the cost would be a step in the right direction."
