A family from Blenheim keep looking back and realising how lucky they were after being at Dreamworld the same day as the fatal incident.
Tane Malcolm went on the Thunder River Rapids ride with his seven and five-year-old daughters on October 25th - the same day four people were killed.
He said he went on the ride twice, the second time about half an hour before the fatal ride that flipped.
Mr Malcolm said when he was on the ride it looked aged, but he was comfortable and certainly didn't feel like he was in danger at all.
He said he noticed helicopters and security guards outside the ride, but it wasn't until he saw the news that afternoon at home that he realised how close they had been.
"What a tragedy for the people involved, and for their families as well. It's just one of those freak accidents. We're lucky to be alive but it's just terrible for them," he said.
"We were obviously very lucky it wasn't our turn at that stage, but who in their right mind thought they could flip them."
