Although the fruit fly scare appears to be over, Auckland residents are being asked to stay alert for introduced species.
The Ministry for Primary Industries has found no further evidence of fruit flies, following the discovery of a Tau fly in Manurewa last month.
It has now removed restrictions on moving fruit and vegetables around Auckland.
MPI's Brendan Gould says people should still keep a look out for the economically important fruit flies, which are slightly larger in size.
He says more often than not, people wouldn't actually notice the flies, which is why they use specialist traps to try to pick them up.
