A vegetation fire that broke out in the upmarket Auckland suburb of Remuera, with smoke seen billowing across the sky, has now been extinguished.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they sent four appliances at about 2.26pm.
“The fire was 20m x 20m and was 10m up on a hillside.”
The spokesperson said crews extinguished the fire at about 3.38pm.
In a video sent to the Herald, large plumes of grey and white smoke were seen pouring across the sky.
One witness said, “It’s a big blaze and smells pretty smokey from where I am standing”.
