A 32-year-old man will appear in court tomorrow after a child and parent were grabbed outside a Christchurch kindergarten on Tuesday morning.
The man is alleged to have approached several parents and their children outside Kidsfirst Kindergarten in Phillipstown.
A police spokesperson says police were called about 8.50am and arrested the man “following disorderly behaviour outside a kindergarten on St Asaph Street”.
Kidsfirst Kindergarten CEO Sherryll Wilson was grateful for the quick police response.
“Our staff handled the situation very well and enacted their emergency plan for situations such as this morning,” said Wilson.
“The safety of tamariki, their whanau and our staff are always our prime concern and focus. This incident is a good reminder for us to always keep a close eye on our tamariki... and to be never afraid to ask for help,” said Wilson.
The man will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow charged with disorderly behaviour, assaulting a child, assaulting a female, and resisting police.
