A woman has been arrested after armed police swarmed a shopping centre in Auckland’s North Shore after a man was stabbed nearby.
A police spokesperson said the incident occurred just before 2pm on Glenfield Rd, Glenfield during an altercation between the woman and a person known to her.
Police said a man suffered a minor stab wound to his hand.
Inspector Mike Rickards said the alleged offender then fled the scene towards nearby Glenfield Mall.
“Our staff, who were armed as a precaution, responded and located the woman near a store inside the mall,” Rickards said.
“Our staff take these sorts of incidents seriously and moved quickly to resolve this matter without further incident.”
Rickards said the man would receive treatment for his injury and charges for the woman would follow in due course.
“I would like to reassure the public that there are no ongoing risks in relation to this incident, and the woman is in custody.”
