Acclaimed New Zealand designer and sculptor Logan Brewer has died.

He was known for a number of high-profile works including projects for the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in 1990, the National Maritime Museum, and Auckland Zoo.

Mr Brewer's latest project has been the Waitemata sculpture series.

He was also a television producer, working on such series as Hunter's Gold, Gather Your Dreams and Children of Fire Mountain.

Brewer was recognised for services to film and TV with an MBE in 1990.

Mr Brewer was 69 and is survived by his wife and six children.
