The Dunedin City Council has voted to only invest in 'ethical' industries.
That means it will not invest in fossil fuel extraction, munitions, tobacco, pornography or gambling.
The decision was made at the most recent council meeting and was decided eight votes to seven.
The idea to divest was first proposed by Councillor Jinty McTavish last year.
