Emergency services are responding to an incident near Rotorua Boys' High School this morning.

A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said they had sent an ambulance to the Rotorua suburb of Victoria about 6am. She referred all further questions to police.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they had sent a fire engine to the scene after being called to help St John at 5.48am.

Police said it was an alleged self-harm incident.

Rotorua Boys' High School has been approached for comment.
