A psychologist is facing two charges of professional misconduct for having an inappropriate relationship with the couple she was counselling.
The professional Conduct Committee has charged the practitioner with malpractice and negligence and discredit to the profession after finding that between October 2012 and March 2013, the practitioner had entered into separate relationships with the couple.
The committee found the practitioner wined and dined with the man and stayed at the woman's holiday house and gave her gifts.
The practitioner was reported to the New Zealand psychologists board after the woman became aware of the practitioners relationship with her partner.
It's now being decided if the parties seek a hearing or if they'd prefer to deal with the penalty via submission.
