As Auckland battles a mumps epidemic, a case has now been reported at the top of the South Island.
More than one thousand people have caught mumps in the Super City this year, with the number of cases almost doubling since the start of October.
Now a person who stayed in Marlborough between December 25th and 27th, is suspected to have the disease.
People who stayed at the Blue Moon Lodge and Inlet Backpackers over those dates are being urged to see a doctor if they develop symptoms - including fever, headaches, muscle aches, tiredness and a loss of appetite.
Medical Officer of Health Dr Simon Baker says people should contact their GP to make sure they have been fully immunised.
Meanwhile, an Auckland teenager who works at NorthWest shopping centre fears she may have infected others.
After she was misdiagnosed by three different doctors in the week before Christmas, she carried on at work and may have come into contact with around 500 people.
