People who aren't sure if they're vaccinated against measles are being urged to contact their GP.
Health officials say a person infected with the disease, who may have been contagious, was at Auckland Airport a week ago.
They were also at two Pak'nSave supermarkets in Silverdale and Albany.
Doctor Mike Hale of the Regional Public Health Service described measles as "one of the most infectious diseases that we know of" and said it's important to be on alert for symptoms.
"Over a few days it leads to a very strong fever and at the peak of the fever the person breaks out in a characteristic measles rash."
