From tomorrow, PHARMAC will pick up the tab for life changing medication that will significantly improve the lives of MS sufferers.
The treatment prevents patients from getting MS 'attacks' where they would become physically disabled for a few weeks.
It also reduces long term physical disability.
The treatment's previously been out of reach for most New Zealanders, as it costs around $40,000 a year.
Neurologist Doctor Jennifer Pereira says it's phenomenal news for the MS community.
"Too difficult to anticipate how any individual will be affected by it so it has a lot of uncertainty built around it, so having acc to treatment is unbelievably life changing."
