The Canterbury DHB says its latest survey on the health and happiness of people in Christchurch is cause for concern.
The Wellbeing Survey was set up by CERA in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquakes and then passed on to the DHB.
It shows that 82 percent of people feel they have a good quality of life, up from 77 percent last year.
DHB chief executive David Meates said new spaces, like the Margaret Mahy playground, are proving extremely popular and providing a wellbeing boost.
However, nearly 20 percent of people are experiencing anxiety about ongoing earthquake aftershocks. That's double the figure from last year's survey.
DHB General Manager, Population and Public Health, Evon Currie said that shows some people are struggling.
"We've still got a significant percentage of our population for whom life is a struggle. We need to ensure that they don't get left behind as things move on."
