Taylor Swift's production entourage is under fire for putting Bethells Beach dotterel at risk.
The pop superstar's film crew breached its filming permit by bringing 12 vehicles onto the beach, when it was only given permission to bring two.
There are only four dotterel at the beach.
Conservationists are concerned vehicle drivers won't see the rare sand coloured native birds on the shore.
Waitakere Ranges local board chair Sandra Coney has this message for the production team:
"I suspect it was ignorance more than anything else, but please respect the wild places that you go to, that help you create a wonderful product for your performer."
