Wellington City Council says it's definitely on board, but won't confirm where it's looking to build a new film museum.
Councillors began debating the city's Draft Long-Term Plan yesterday, with discussions continuing this morning.
Big ticket items up for consideration include an indoor arena, the airport's runway extension, and a new film museum.
Deputy mayor Justin Lester says the museum is mentioned throughout documents as one of the significant projects they want to progress.
"We are looking at a waterfront spot, but we're not going to confirm where that may be. We have looked at other sites around our city, too, so one of those may yet eventuate.
"But we're very keen on having a movie museum-type facility in conjunction with Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor."
