Lorde took the world by storm when she released Royals at the mere age of 16 - now the hit single has been certified diamond after selling 10 million copies in the United States.

Royals went straight to No.1 when it was first released in 2013 and made the Auckland teenager a superstar overnight.

The song is just one of 16 songs to reach the diamond milestone.

The Grammy-award winner cleaned up at the New Zealand Music Awards in November where she took home six Tuis and the APRA silver scroll.

Lorde's second album Melodrama was released in June this year to great acclaim with Pitchfork giving the album an 8.8.
