The 75th Emmy Awards have wrapped up after a huge night for TV, with Succession, The Bear, and Beef among the big winners.
Initially scheduled to take place last year, Hollywood’s two strikes meant the annual celebration has faced a four-month delay, but today the lights came on, the cameras rolled, and the celebrities wowed us on the carpet. But it was Sir Elton John who took out one of the most impressive awards on the night - though he wasn’t there in person to accept it as he was undergoing a knee operation.
The much-loved singer was awarded the Emmy for best variety special for his Disney+ show Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium. It means he’s become an EGOT winner, having won a Grammy award, Oscar award, Tony award and Emmy award.

He’s the 19th person to ever claim such a title, Entertainment Weekly reports, following in the footsteps of legends like Audrey Hepburn, John Legend, Richard Rodgers and Viola Davis.
New Zealand’s own Melanie Lynskey missed out on Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Yellowjackets and for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for The Last of Us.
The award went to Succession’s Sarah Snook instead, while her co-star Kieran Culkin took home the award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, and The Bear took home six Emmy Awards including for Best Comedy Series.
