Police in Hawke's Bay are concerned about a notorious black-spot after three people were injured in a crash last night.
The crash happened at the intersection of State Highway 2B and Meeanee Quay just after 9pm.
A car turned right directly into the path of an oncoming truck, which was carrying a full load of offal.
Two people had to be cut free from the car, and are in a critical condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
A third passenger is in a serious condition.
Senior Sergeant Greg Brown said there have been a number of crashes at this intersection and it remains a concern.
He said NZTA plan to install a roundabout there, with work starting next year.
