Police investigating the death of a child in Auckland are waiting on test results to find out how they died.
Detective Senior Sergeant Glenn Baldwin said a post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday afternoon. It was inconclusive and further test results were expected on Tuesday.
The child was found dead in the early hours of yesterday morning at a property on Moana Ave, Onehunga.
Police were working to contact family members overseas, something Interpol was helping with.
The child's name will not be released until all next of kin have been advised, police say.
"The death of any child is tragic and we are doing everything we can to support the child's family.
"The investigation is continuing and will be reassessed on Tuesday when we get the test results," Mr Baldwin said.
